project

problem - there are 65 million refugees worldwide. Thirty-three million of them are children. The humanitarian coordination system designed to meet refugee needs is filled with outdated and inefficient tools. In fact, it takes 2 years on average for a refugee child to receive minimum core protective services.

solution - RISE is building a mobile technology platform to speed the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid to children from 2 years to 2 months. Codenamed CIEL, the platform allows for coordination of the humanitarian response and the precise allocation of resources to meet refugee needs.

tech - CIEL is a SaaS platform (Software as a Service), consisting of a robust suite of tools, including an assessor and responder mobile application, and a cloud database with a UI portal driving the global humanitarian system. CIEL provides stakeholders at multiple levels with a 30,000 ft. view of the humanitarian operation and allows them to launch a well-orchestrated and data-driven intervention. The tools, designed to work in internet and infrastructure poor settings, rely on portable Wi-Fi, solar device charging, and technologies common in developing countries.

innovation - RISE is addressing the global refugee crisis in unprecedented ways; introducing technology, business practices, supply chain economics, human-centered design, and systems entrepreneurship to create a paradigm shift in the way humanitarian intervention is coordinated.
